SSEDSO Services

The services provided by the Solar System Exploration Data Services Office range from analog photographs to web design. The National Space Science Data Center forms the largest group with the most diverse talents gained over a 40 year span as NASA's permanent data archive. To manage its holdings NSSDC has built up groups in database management and advanced technology. Besides preserving data, NSSDC distributes information both in hard copy and electronic forms. By remaining flexible over the years, NSSDC has been able to evolve and adapt to a distributed environment.

The SSEDSO has not only the breadth of NSSDC but the focus research of the Crustal Dynamics Data Information System (CDDIS) group which participates in international arrangements. With this background of breadth and depth, SSEDSO was assigned the project management of the Planetary Data System, a premier active archive whose standards have also been adopted by the European Space Agency.
